Lunch with Greg Norman

Lunch with Greg Norman

Since 1999, most visitors to Myrtle Beach have known that Greg Norman’s Australian Grille is one of the finest places to spend an evening along the Grand Strand. However, locals hope to keep it a secret that the restaurant also offers a superior lunch menu with sandwiches, plates, soups and entrees all offered for rock-bottom prices.

Aside from creative soups and salads, the custom lunch menu features over two dozen gourmet twists on favorite sandwiches including Lobster BLT and an all-beef Hot Dog that comes stacked with fried onion crisps and homemade chili. Massive portions continue in traditional favorites like the Reuben and Crab Cake sandwiches that cost less than $10 and are accompanied with fresh homemade potato chips or a side salad.  Larger entrees are changed routinely as per the chef’s personal preferences, but always feature the restaurant’s finest cuts of fresh fish and beef prepared over the restaurant’s wood fire. Smaller portions of local Myrtle Beach seafood are also available in the restaurants’ dozens of specialty appetizers that are often substituted as tapas-style meals. No matter how large or small specific orders may be, each dish is served with startling presentation and the utmost in class, adding a touch of elegance to even the most casual lunch. Despite their grandeur performance, lunchtime favorites like the Crispy Seafood Spring Rolls or the Fried Calamari tossed in an Australian Sweet Chili Glaze are gentle on the wallet, both costing no more than $8 each.

Additionally, Greg Norman’s Australian Grille boasts an impressive selection of spirits, offering a staggering number of wines from across the globe. While the cellar is sure to stock regional favorites, the highlights are those bottles acquired from Australia’s finest vineyards that offer a new taste to old favorites and brings yet another hint of authenticity to the dining experience.

If the food alone isn’t enough to elicit excited compliments, the interior of Greg Norman’s only personalized Grille is sure to. Overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway, the sprawling restaurant is a gorgeous, multileveled palace with a posh mix of new design and classic architecture. Bold, clean hardwood lines frame intricate yet subtle reminders of Norman’s homeland, all before a beautiful waterfront backdrop. Perhaps one of the most exquisitely designed dining areas in Myrtle Beach, the dining room sets the tone for an timelessly elegant culinary experience. However, while the size of such a magnificent building would ordinarily seem sharp and uncomfortable to the average patron, the room’s candelabras surrounded by plush dining chairs or leather-lined booths allow each table to achieve a sense of warm relaxation.

Greg Norman’s is best known for its incredible dinners and not mentioning them would be a crime. Like the lunch entrees, the selection is ever-changing but always features the finest cuts of prime steak and the best in local seafood. That being said, there’s no need to look for “shrimp on the Barbie” here. First of all, they’re called “prawns” Down Under and secondly, they’re offered in a variety of mouth-watering ways every season. However, the menu’s focus stays particularly on other Australian dishes, and presents an array of genuinely incredible adaptations of Aussie favorites. Classically prepared duck, lamb, veal and Australian rock lobster are prepared over the restaurant’s wood-fire grill and, despite any artistic or culinary enhancement added to the dish, each entrée is a direct representation of the rustic nature that captures the spirit of Australia.

This winter, Greg Norman’s Australian Grille will be presenting a series of Wine Dinners that offer specialized dishes and wines that will best complement them in a plethora of various themes.  This spring, a special dinner will welcome golf legend Greg Norman to his Myrtle Beach restaurant, although details about specific dates and times are inconclusive at the present.

Diners are invited to stop by Myrtle Beach’s Barefoot Landing to enjoy Greg Norman’s famous cuisine from 11 a.m – 3 p.m. daily. The restaurant is located along the Intracoastal Waterway at the very back of Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach.
