City Bar: Cocktails and Gourmet

City Bar: Cocktails and Gourmet

City Bar Metropolitan Cuisine can hardly be ascribed as just another trendy tapas bar. With a full menu of gourmet fare, a bar that redefines the modern cocktail, and an enticing variety of hosted events, City Bar provides the essential components for a perfect night out on the town.

Originally, City Bar was one of several theme lounges in the Divine Dining Group’s

Town Square
. After the complex closed in 2006, City Bar moved to a free-standing location on
76th Avenue North
, where they are able to fully explore their options as both a restaurant and a posh nightspot.

City Bar is best known for its extensive cocktail repertoire, and the bar keeps an impressive 56 specialty vodkas in stock. Leading the way in the vodka infusion trend, General Manager Dave Tomasits has found a passion for brewing new innovations, including his signature Cotton Candy and Watermelon Bubblicious flavors. Additionally, the lounge prides itself on introducing patrons to the newest liquors on the market, such as the Tommy Bahama Rums from Barbados.

Ordinarily, an eatery’s choice to multitask leads to certain features falling short of expectations, but the City Bar staff members have created a multifaceted company that showcases a staggering variety of strengths . The restaurant’s outstanding cuisine is uniquely offered in a variety of portion sizes, enabling guests to customize their meals. Tapas such as the decadent Kobe Slider and small plates like the Beef Tenderloin Killington or Chicken Roulade double as appetizers or glamorous bar snacks.

However, the generous entrée menu offers Cold Water Lobster Tail, New York Strip, and Shrimp Pasta Barcelona and casually scoffs at the notion that City Bar is only good for elegant nibbles. Whether a diner desires a few tapas plates to accompany spirits or a dazzling five course feast, he or she can count on receiving dishes crafted with personalized finesse.

Instead of kicking back to steep in their own grandeur, however, City Bar hosts an assortment of events that engage the community and run the gamut of creative culinary expression.

Every three months, the restaurant hosts an International Wine Dinner, when a different country is highlighted and dishes are customized to complement specially selected wines. Additionally, an Experimental Social is held every third Thursday and features the restaurant’s newest tapas along with the latest in wines and liqueurs.  Not all the events are food-driven, however, and the bar comes alive during Guest Bartender evenings and Wine and Jazz Sundays. Mark your calendar now for 80’s Night on July 25, which will feature wacky thematic cocktails with such names as “Who Shot JR?” and the “Funky Cold Medina” that have been created just for the occasion.

There’s something for everyone to fall hopelessly in love with at City Bar. With its chic, warm atmosphere, affordable haute cuisine and a cocktail selection that sets new standards of excellence, City Bar is poised to become the next great hub of Grand Strand nightlife.

City Bar is open daily at 5 p.m. and is located at

7604 N. Kings Highway
. For reservations or information about events, call (843)-449-7013 or visit their website at http://www.citybarrestaurant.com.
